Frequently Asked Questions
Does cropping lose data?
No. Cropping sets a new visible area for the page (its crop box); everything outside it is hidden, not deleted, and any PDF editor can bring it back. That also means it is not a way to remove private information — use Redact PDF for that.
Does file size shrink after cropping?
No — it stays about the same, because nothing is taken out of the file. To make it smaller, use Compress PDF.
What does Auto-trim look for?
Anything that isn’t white. It draws every page in your browser and puts the box around the outermost text, line or picture, with a small border (about 8 pt). A scan with a grey or shadowed background has no white margin to find — drag the box or type the margins instead.

Typed "2,5" into a size box on a German, Spanish or Portuguese page? The browser's number box quietly dropped the comma and read 25. The box now reads a comma or a dot as the decimal mark, so 2,5 is 2.5.
This page promised a preview to drag a crop box on, auto-trim and per-page crops, and all it really had was one "trim N % off every edge" slider. Worse, on a page that was already cropped it set a BIGGER box and brought back what the first crop had hidden, and a page whose coordinates don't start in the corner came out as a quarter of itself. Now you see the page and drag the box (or type the four margins), Auto-trim finds where the content is, and you can give every page its own box. The crop is measured on the page as you see it, so turned and already-cropped pages come out right. One honest correction: cropping hides the edges, it doesn't delete them, so the file doesn't get smaller.
