Is this AI upscaling?
No. It enlarges with high-quality bilinear interpolation on a canvas — every new pixel is a blend of its neighbours, so edges come out smooth instead of blocky, but no detail is invented. If you want a neural network to fill in detail, that is what the AI Image Upscaler next door is for.

This one was listed under "AI-Powered" in the menu, and the Japanese description even said "AI搭載". It isn't: it enlarges with bilinear interpolation on a canvas, which is smooth but invents no detail. It now sits next to Resize, and the AI Image Upscaler (a real Real-ESRGAN model running in your browser) is the one in the AI section.
I dropped a broken PNG in here and the whole page went blank: no picture, no button, not even the drop area to try again. A text file did nothing at all. Now both tell you, in plain words, that it isn't an image I can read, and you can go straight on with the next file. I also caught a mix-up: after a 4x run, "New image" kept the 4x button lit but made the new picture at 2x, so the label, the button and the file disagreed. Now your scale sticks and the file always matches it. Downloads are named after your picture (holiday-upscaled-3x.png instead of upscaled-3x.png), and if a size is more than your browser can hold (phones top out around 16 megapixels) you're told so instead of the page quietly doing nothing.
